Psychosocial assessment of lung cancer patients and their caregivers

Lung cancer (LC) is one of the most common types disease worldwide. Studies in field show that appearance a pathology this form causes changes not only patient’s life, namely psychological problems, functional limitations and poorer health due to clinical consequences treatments, but also their family, where caregivers often face challenge providing long-term daily care induces physical, psychosocial financial burden (Borges et al., 2017; Hewitt 2003; Tan 2018). The main objective present study compare relate two groups (patients caregivers) considering quality life (QoL) symptoms distress (anxiety depression). total sample consisted 30 patient/caregiver dyads. instruments used were: Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale; European Organization for Research Treatment Quality Life Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ C-30) its specific module lung (LC13); Caregiver Oncology (CarGOQoL) Zarit Burden Interview Scale (ZBI). results suggest influence depressive symptomatology on patients’ QoL [F(1)=6.390; p<0.05] anxious caregivers’ [F(3)=7.815; p<0.001]. A positive association was found between patients (r=0.458; p=0.011) differences were observed, with higher result group.
